Welcome to Buck Rut Acres!

This site is dedicated to informing our friends and family of the latest happenings out at the lodge.

Buck Rut Acres is located in East Central Nebraska along the northern banks of the Platte River.  We have over 150 acres of wooded habitat with an island in the river, three creeks coursing their way through the property, and 1 small pond.  Our two-story lodge and two-story barn are located on 3 acres of upperground at the northern edge of our property.  For a little history on our place, click here.

We invite you to browse through this site to view the pictures and stories.  Please check back often for our lastest experiences and thanks for stopping by!

We harvested no bucks during the 2011 Deer Season.  None of our "shooters" presented any opportunities during the season.  Instead, we harvested 8 anterless to continue our efforts to manage the population.

In the 2010 Rifle Season, 3 doe and 2 bucks were harvested.  Here is Con with his buck, a 5x5, that we had named Young 5 off of our trail camera pictures.  He scored 128 1/8 and is the 5th largest buck we have harvested off of our ground.

Chris was able to harvest "Neck Scratcher" on the last day of the 2010 Rifle Season.  We had many pictures of this deer on trail camera, but he disappeared for most of the season.  He scores 140 7/8 and is our current #2 deer.  He weighed 235 pounds live weight.

Finally, Chris took up bowhunting for his first time in 2010 and was lucky enough to harvest this buck on 11/10/10 that is the 10th largest deer we have taken on our property.  He weighed 175 pounds field-dressed which translates to 222 pounds live weight.

We are forever grateful to all of the help we have received over the years in all of our major projects!  Without all of this help and effort, our dreams would not be possible.  For all that have helped over the years, remember. . . . you are always welcome at the lodge.

If we don't share this place with our friends and family, it won't be half the fun that it is!
